- Abstract
The article focuses on Italian military on crucial role in the Italianization of Istria by upholding a state of exception for so long. It mentions military occupation and insensitivity to local contexts, but rather the permanency of uncertainty regarding what Italian statehood would mean for Istria that fuelled radicalisation there. It also mentions allegedly righteous state would not admit of any countervailing power, or allow exception to its sovereignty, or even that normal administrative order and the comfort of the population. It also mentions imperial authorities were replaced by self-proclaimed national council committees or public safety committees.
