The article analyzes the six short stories which comprise writer Anthony Trollope's series "An Editor's Tales," including the short stories "The Panjandrum," "The Turkish Bath," and "Mrs. Brumby". According to the author, the stories depict the role of the periodical editor as complicated, flawed, and humorous, yet also necessary. Details on Trollope's tenure as the editor of "Saint Paul's Magazine" are presented. Other topics include personality and the valuation of literary work.
