- Title
A PRESENÇA REAL DE CRISTO NA CEIA NO PENSAMENTO DE CALVINO.
- Authors
de Campos, Heber Carlos
- Abstract
The author addresses the main topic of controversy and disagreement among Protestants in the sixteenth century – the understanding of the Lord's Supper. He presents briefly the three different positions that arose about this ordinance: physical presence (Lutherans), symbolic presence (Zwinglians), and spiritual presence (Calvinists). After considering some of the chief emphases of Luther's and Zwingli's thought on the matter, Campos lingers on a more detailed analysis of Calvin's reflection as he presents the main features of his Eucaristic thought and the main dangers he sought to avoid in the treatment of this subject.
