The article presents the author's insights on the academic collaboration enjoyed by The University of the West Indies (UWI), Yale University, and Jamaica in paediatrics forged by professor Graham Serjeant. Topics discussed include the sickle cell disease screening programme in newborns in Jamaica, the inclusion of professor Richard Olmsted at the UWI faculty in 2002, and the visit of professor Elijah Paintsil at UWI in 2004.
