- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the management of acute gallbladder disease in England. The authors, citing the limited data on the subject, analyzed Hospital Episode Statistics from 2003 to 2005 they obtained from the Department of Health. Findings of the study reveal that early cholecystectomy for acute gallbladder disease is not a common practice in England, and open cholecystectomy is commonly employed in emergency than in elective settings.
