- Title
California Moves to Reduce Formaldehyde Emissions.
- Abstract
This article deals with the regulations adopted by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) that require manufacturers of composite wood products to reduce formaldehyde emissions. According to CARB Chairman Robert Sawyer, phase two of the new standards, to be implemented in 2012, will make the state the leader in eliminated formaldehyde emissions. In addition, these regulations will impose strict formaldehyde limits on all composite wood products sold in California. In response to the new regulations, the American Home Furnishings Alliance claims that it is developing a compliance strategy, such as helping furniture manufacturers identify a method for ensuring their board suppliers are complying with the certification and labeling requirements.
