Polisi, Joseph W.
- Abstract
This article discusses the effort by John D. Rockefeller to form a committee to entertain the idea of creating a performing arts center in New York City, New York. The administrative arm developed by the committee became Lincoln Center, Inc., which oversaw construction and fund raising. William Schuman, composer and president of the Juilliard School of Music, is described as being persuasive in his efforts to have the center recognize Juilliard the educational wing of the group's business venture.
