- Title
The Autoethnography of William Whipple Warren.
- Authors
Hooley, Matt
- Abstract
The article presents literary criticism of the book "History of the Ojibways" by William Whipple Warren. According to the author, the book was intended to demonstrate the ways in which the white, colonial center of St. Paul, Minnesota was influenced by Native culture and politics. It is suggested that scholars view Warren's book as an autoethnography which explores the interruption of the colonial in modernity. Warren's role in Ojibwe tribal politics is also discussed.
