- Abstract
The article focuses on the symbolic practice of assimilating paranoia in films. It discusses the relevance of the concept of regression and paranoia and their projection for a metapsychology of film. It examines the development of the concept and problems in projecting regression by examining Alfred Hitchcock's film "The Birds." The article also discusses paranoia as a consequence of the structure of the ego-function and its relationship to certain specific codes of the film's substance of expression.
