Title
Hydrogen explosion from batteries.
Abstract
The article reports two incidents of hydrogen explosions from batteries. In the first incident, a spark was caused resulting in a local explosion when three fitters applied a mobile battery charger across the battery terminals. It is recommended that since batteries give off hydrogen, they should be installed in a well ventilated area. In the second case, an explosion occurred when an electrical foreman was leaning over to check a battery.
