- Abstract
The article offers information on the development of the 1000 Genomes Project, one example of genome-wide association studies (GWAS). It states that the project already completed its first and second phases which investigate the initial sequencing of human genomes and the identification of the genomic variations for relevant medical traits such as hereditary diseases. It notes that the third phase of the project is set to be launched which will focus on whole-genome sequencing.
