- Abstract
The article discusses the problems surrounding the plumes of gas in Lake Kivu, Africa. The gas were formed from tectonic movements brings up molted rock from underneath the earth, releasing carbon dioxide that leaks into the bottom of the lake. The carbon dioxide laying underneath the lake could lead to a limnic eruption, and such possibility have compelled scientists to assess the risks at Kivu. There have proposals to remove carbon dioxide and methane, and such interests over methane resources have only stalled actions over the lake.
