- Title
Growing pains.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the impact of the U.S. government's fight against agricultural diseases in the country through fresh funds and a national monitoring network. It is noted that these advances are being weakened by inflexible bureaucracy. It is noted that the restrictions of the government on research into select agents have rarely been popular among the scientists due to monitoring and bureaucracy. However, the researchers have accepted the restrictions as a fact of life after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and the anthrax mailings. This is true in the research of agriculturally significant plant diseases concerning their use in devastating crops throughout the regions and countries.
