- Authors
Cyranoski, David
- Abstract
The article reports that Woo Suk Hwang, a disgraced South Korean cloning scientist, has set up a research base in Thailand. Science-policy officials assert that they knew nothing about the presence of the scientist in the country. Se Pil Park, a fertility expert in Cheju National University in South Korea, reveals that Hwang went to the country to continue his cloning research, wherein the result will be embryonic stem-cell lines that could be cultured for research and for therapeutic use. Park refuses to disclose details of the researcher's latest work and where he was based.
