- Abstract
The article focuses on the UCLEA committee on programs for union women. At the fall meeting the board of the Institute for Women and Work was treated to an analysis of the recent voting patterns of women and minorities by Warren Mitossky, director of elections and surveys for CBS. He stated that in the Middle West 58% of the men voted Republican and 55% of the women voted Democratic for a difference of 13%. Among working women there is an 18% Democratic margin. Civil Service women in New York State moving from clerical grade to supervisory grade positions are offered a course co-sponsored by the Civil Service Employee Association. Course topics include analytical reasoning, math, graphs and tables, job stress, and oral communication. Cornell is cooperating in a New Outreach to Hispanic Union Women to encourage more active participation in the Coalition of Labor Union Women. In mid-February UAB conducted an internal organizing workshop for men and women. This workshop was requested by participants in the first Alabama union women conference, held in 1982.
