- Abstract
In life-cycle engineering consultancy services, the trust and governance mechanisms selection of contract control both directly influence the performance of consultancy projects. However, the trade-offs between them were unclear. To explore the selection of project governance mechanisms, this study conducted an experimental simulation combined with a questionnaire, used PLS-SEM and regression analysis, and constructed a moderating model of life-cycle engineering consultancy governance mechanisms based on professional service transaction characteristics. The results showed that: trust and contract control have a complementary effect, and the governance effect of trust is significantly higher than the effect of contract control. It is appropriate to choose trust governance in the case of strong professional service transaction complexity and dependency and contract control governance in the case of strong ambiguity quality standards. The study expanded the theoretical boundary of consulting project governance based on professional service transaction relationships. Based on the analysis results, theoretical guidance is provided for clients to choose reasonable governance mechanisms based on different transaction characteristics.
