- Abstract
One possible way to harness geothermal resources is by stabilizing the temperature of buildings using earth tube systems. The performance of such systems depends on soil characteristics, depth and the system type. However, it is a technology that is still in its early stages of adoption in Brazil. This article aims to map the already implemented geothermal experiences for the purpose of stabilizing building temperatures in the Brazilian territory, analyzing their applicability and potential innovations by rescuing the conceptual understanding of earth tube systems technology. The methodology is qualitative, with data obtained through systematic review, documental research and field research. Systematic review involved seeking scientific publications presenting performance results of implemented earth tube systems. Documental research sought broad and diverse sources on the topic, selecting only those with sufficient reliability and content detail. Field research involved collecting construction information from an operating geothermal system. The results contribute to the dissemination of knowledge about geothermal energy, describing the functioning of earth tube systems and allowing them to be understood as a clean, renewable and sustainable technology, providing support for future studies on the subject.
