- Abstract
The article discusses efforts to improve the implementation of the Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) into the National Health Service (NHS) standard contract. Topics include enabling the black and minority ethnic (BME) community to close the equality gap based on moral, legal, financial and quality-of-care reasons. Also discussed are positive growth resulting from WRES initiatives such as the increase in the number of BME colleagues working under the NHS from 18% to 20% in 2018.
