- Title
Religious Involvement and Healthy Cognitive Aging: Patterns, Explanations, and Future Directions.
- Authors
Hill, Terrence D.
- Abstract
The author presents a review of studies on the association between religious involvement and cognitive functioning. He sights the study of P. Van Ness and S. Kasl, T. Hill and colleagues, and C. A. Reyes-Ortiz and colleagues, which all confirms that religious attendance is associated with a reduction in the odds of cognitive dysfunction. He declares that these studies does not provide explanations for their results and identifies several theoretically viable mechanisms for this outcome.
