- Title
The great takeover debate Vote no, based on the facts.
- Authors
TREVOR, LEIGH
- Abstract
The article presents the perspective of attorney Leigh Trevor on why the activities of "corporate raiders" do not benefit the U.S. economy. Raiders such as T. Boone Pickens neither create jobs nor modernize factories nor contribute to technological advancement. Raiders' claims that they have made the U.S. economy more efficient are belied by a growing trade deficit and weakening dollar. In addition, facts indicate hostile takeovers do not result in higher returns on equity or substantially greater profitability.
