- Abstract
The two main articles are essentially complementary. Troy's more macroanalysis looks at the U.S. union movement generally, comparing it with Britain's. Allison's analysis is more micro-oriented. She examines local unions in Southern New England and is especially concerned with differences among unions and with deviant cases which require special explanations, Overall the results are useful, but not particularly surprising. Union assets are substantial in total-over $2.6 billion for the country as a whole. But when viewed on a per capita basis, union wealth seems much more modest.
