- Title
Transplanting the European Court of Justice: The Experience of the Andean Tribunal of Justice.
- Authors
Alter, Karen J.; Helfer, Laurence R.; Saldías, Osvaldo
- Abstract
The article discusses the transplantation of supranational judicial bodies such as the European Court of Justice (ECJ) as of July 2012, focusing on an overview of the Andean Tribunal of Justice (ATJ) which was reportedly modeled after the ECJ. It states that the 1996 passage of the Cochabamba Protocol, which repealed a ban on private actors filing complaints with the region's General Secretariat for alleged violations of Andean law, brought the ATJ closer to the ECJ judicial model.
