SPIRIT OF SPORT STORY OF THE YEAR AWARD.
- Abstract
The article highlights the launching of the Spirit of Sport Story of the Year Award at the 29th Annual Canadian Sport Awards on March 26, 2002 in Toronto, Ontario. The award was developed in partnership with the Canadian Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (CAHPERD) and the Spirit of Sport Education. The award intended for the best story on Canadian sport hero, event, or experience that has captured the true essence of the spirit of sport. It also aim to assess the sports experience and knowledge of elementary students as well as the positive values that sports will develop in them. There were several entries but only five qualified for the finals which include Colleen Breithaupt, Caitlin McFadyen, and Ashton Flasch.
