- Abstract
The article discusses the corporate officer doctrine in environmental prosecutions by which government can place corporate officers for civil damages, criminal prosecution and penalties on the basis of officer's position and role within the company. It informs that environmental accidents in a company can expose corporations and individuals to criminal prosecution where mens rea is not a necessary element of criminal conduct. The Clean Water Act (CWA) of the U.S. is discussed.
