- Title
Fifth Circuit Affirms Denial of Supplemental Life Insurance Benefits.
- Abstract
The article presents a court case in which the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit denied a beneficiary's estoppel claim despite the regular deduction of premiums by the insurance firm. In the case Talasek v. National Oilwell Varco, LP (NOV), the plaintiff's husband Ben Talasek enrolled in a supplemental life insurance plan through his employer NOV. The insurance firm Unum, however, disapproved his insurance coverage due to his pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
