- Abstract
The article provides a review of the Comet CHA-250HD/BXII multi-band HF vertical antenna, which covers frequencies from 3.5 to 57MHz without requiring radials. The antenna uses a matching transformer to accommodate varying impedances across the frequency range and can be easily assembled and mounted on masts of 1.25-2.75 inches in diameter. The review indicates that the antenna performs well on all bands, although adding radials may enhance its performance. It is considered a compromise antenna suitable for those with limited space or antenna restrictions. The maximum power rating is 250W on SSB and 75W on data modes. The article includes a table displaying the measured SWR at different frequencies, indicating the antenna's efficiency. The Comet CHA-250BXII antenna is available for purchase in the UK for approximately £350. The references provided can be helpful for individuals researching amateur radio antennas.
