- Abstract
Introduction: The dose calibrator is used for radiopharmaceutical activities measurement. Acceptance test is performed after the installation and before the clinical usage of a dose calibrator in order to guarantee that it is performing according to its clinical specifications and purpose. Purpose: The purpose of this article is to present a TestDoseCal software application. It automatically calculates the results of the acceptance test and determinates the adequacy of performance of the dose calibrator. Material and methods: Constancy, geometry, linearity and accuracy tests as part of the acceptance testing for dose calibrators were performed by a nuclear medicine technologist. TestDoseCal makes all the calculations that are needed with these tests and presents them in the manner which allows us to immediately see whether they are within the prescribed limits. All the results and procedures were reviewed by a medical physics expert. Results: TestDoseCal application facilitates the implementation of the acceptance testing for dose calibrator. A nuclear medicine technologist is able to independently perform the acceptance testing for dose calibrator. Conclusion: A nuclear medicine technologist is able to perform the acceptance testing for dose calibrator with additional education and with the help of TestDoseCal application. With the lack of medical physics experts, a nuclear medicine technologist could take the responsibility of performing the acceptance testing for dose calibrators.
