Title
Perpetual Notions.
Abstract
The article presents a classification scheme for perpetual-motion machines developed by engineering professor Kevin Kilty in 1992. Magical devices refers to those that operated by no known principle. Impossible machines are those that defy magic such as the drawings of M.C. Escher, where water runs continuously downhill in a closed cycle. Another classification scheme is perpetual lamps which below to the realm of myth, like unicorns and half-men beasts.
