- Title
Physicians need to ensure that glaucoma patients are receiving proper care.
- Authors
Lindstrom, Richard L.
- Abstract
The author stresses the need of ophthalmologists to ensure that glaucoma patients who are unable or unwilling to pay the medical costs are receiving proper care. He relates the impact of the recession on the elective procedures such as LASIK. He mentions that there is growing evidence that aged patients are delaying cataract surgery, probably to avoid the Medicare co-pay. The author emphasizes the need of ophthalmologists to help patients by providing care and medication at reduced or no cost.
