- Authors

- Abstract
The article presents an update on excavations in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, as of February 2009. A mission led by archaeologist Zahi Hawass is concentrating on the area near the entrance of the Tomb of Merenptah. Another excavation is underway in the center of the Valley, between the wooden tourist shelter and the tomb of Tutankhamun, which aims to reveal the bedrock in order to help understand the way the Valley channelled water in antiquity and enable an examination of the layers of any flood débris.
