- Title
AN ANALYSIS OF PIGMENT PROCESSING GROUNDSTONE FROM YELLOW JACKET: 5MT3.
- Abstract
The article discusses the Yellow Jacket Archaeological Site, located in Montezuma County, Colorado. It presents an analysis of pigment processing at the site. As there is a ritual component to Pueblo people's pigment processing practices, an investigation was conducted to determine whether such rituals could be discerned in the archaeological remains at Yellow Jacket. It was found that pigment processing at Yellow Jacket involved the selection and repurposing of particular tools that had been previously used for other purposes, as opposed to the ritual creation of pigment processing tools from raw materials.
