- Title
VARIABILITY AND PREDICTABILITY IN A SMALL DEBITAGE SAMPLE: IMPLICATIONS FOR FOCUSED RESEARCH.
- Abstract
The article presents information on the results of an analysis of temporal variability which was conducted on a debitage sample drawn from the archeological site designated 5BL2431 in Boulder County, Colorado. A correlation was observed between strata and material type, as large-grained materials such as quartzites tended to cluster in the lower strata, while cryptocrystallines were typically found in the upper strata. Further discriminant analysis showed a correlation between radiocarbon age and material type. The implications of these findings for archaeological resource protection planning are discussed.
