- Abstract
The article describes a ring discovered during archaeological excavations at the fortified settlement known as Łysa Góra in Błonie near Warsaw. The item itself is probably lost. Attempts at researching this historical object are based on the sole existing description and drawing. Firstly, its iconographic aspect is discussed, since a silhouette of a lion had been engraved on the seal plaque. Subsequently, one of the ways of interpreting the inscription on the ring’s band is reported. The inscription is compared to ducal names engraved on the chalice and paten from Płock. Analogously to those, the ring should be linked with the family of Conrad of Mazovia. The inscription may have been the initials of the names of the duke’s sons, which, in their full form, had been placed on the chalice and paten.
