- Abstract
This article discusses the use of language as a transformative device that can be used to change identity and perception, citing the works "Ruy Blas" by Victor Hugo and "Cyrano de Bergerac" by Edmond Rostand. The author explores the character of Ruy Blas and his unqualified adoption of a noble title, which transforms his character and they way he is perceived, leading to tangible consequences. The transformation of the character Cyrano based on a promise he gave to his lover is also detailed.
