- Abstract
The article presents an ethnographic study of Cakchikel women and their views on the human body, human sexuality and body care. The author discusses the different terminology and conceptualization used by Cakchikel women to refer to bodies and sexuality in the Cakchikel language. She explores how these women understand bodily changes at different ages and describes the tasks related to the care of female bodies assigned to comadronas (women caretakers). The author also discusses ancestral views of the body among the Kaqchikel women with reference to archaeological artifacts.
