US-Southeast Asia Relations: Conflict in the East; Opportunity in the West.
- Authors
Dalpino, Catharin
- Abstract
The article offers information on the U.S. relations with Southeast Asian Nations and U.S. responses to the tensions in South East Asia, namely the territorial disputes between China and the Philippines, the conflict between Philippines and Thailand, and the political issues in Burma. The author says these events has influenced the U.S. "pivot" towards Asia which would increase the number of littoral combat ships at Singapore and discussions for rotations of U.S. troops in Philippine bases.
