The article reviews China-Japan bilateral relations for the first four months of 2014, described as dominated by history. Topics discussed include controversies over the Yasukuni Shrine, the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands occupied by Japan, and compensation for wartime forced labor, as well as China's January 19, 2014 opening of a memorial to Korean resistance leader Ahn Jung-geun.
