- Abstract
The article highlights the results of a study on the late gastrointestinal disorders after rectal cancer surgery. It mentions that radiation therapy is beneficial for selected patients with rectal cancer, resulting in reduced local recurrence and improved long-term survival rates. Using multiple-bream techniques and to apply proper shielding is the most effective method for preventing irradiation of the small bowel during preoperative radiotherapy for rectal cancer.
