- Title
J-school heads optimistic about enrollment trends.
- Authors
Schulfe, Henry F.; Blood, R. Warwick
- Abstract
The article focuses on enrollment trends of journalism schools in the U.S. Most of the journalism school administrators surveyed during the 1979-1980 academic year believe that the great growth in enrollments is over. Those predicting enrollment growth thought that, although the number of media jobs may be limited and competition keen, there is a strong demand for communication specialists. School heads predicting a levelling off in enrollments generally cited three reasons — worsening job opportunities, low salaries for graduates entering the job market and demographic projections for the 1980s.
