- Abstract
Pediatric dentistry faces the persistent challenge of alleviating anxiety to ensure a positive dental experience for young patients. This poster presentation delves into the imperative shift from conventional anxiety management techniques to vibrotactile devices, highlighting the compelling need for this innovative approach in the context of pediatric dentistry. Unlike conventional methods, which have demonstrated limitations in effectively addressing anxiety, vibrotactile devices harness the sense of touch through subtle vibrations and present a promising alternative for anxiety reduction and enhanced patient comfort. This research explores the compelling rationale behind adopting vibrotactile devices as a superior alternative to conventional methods, emphasizing their potential to create a more effective and child-friendly anxiety management strategy. By providing a sensory-rich environment, these devices aim not only to distract and engage children during dental procedures but also to surpass the shortcomings of conventional approaches. The presentation showcases the design and implementation of vibrotactile devices tailored specifically to the pediatric dental setting, underscoring their unique advantages in mitigating stress levels, fostering cooperation, and elevating the overall quality of dental care for children. Through a comprehensive exploration of literature, case studies, and preliminary findings, this abstract advocates for the necessity of embracing vibrotactile technology in pediatric dentistry, urging a paradigm shift toward more innovative and personalized anxiety management strategies for the young dental population.
