- Abstract
The article discusses the emergence of Vimyism, the mythology surrounding the Battle of Vimy Ridge in France, and World War I veteran and Canadian professor of political economy Harold Innis. According to the author, Vimyism is a form of martial patriotism obscuring the reality of World War I. Topics of discussion include Innis's thoughts about war, the idea that the Battle of Vimy Ridge was a defining moment in the history of Canada, and the unveiling of the Vimy Memorial in 1936. Canada's Citizenship Guide and economic nationalism are also mentioned.
