- Abstract
The article presents a historical analysis on the phenomenon of the voluntary export restraints (VERs). The author defined VERs as the arrangement of a specific groups of exporters to limit the quantity or hold up the price of exports to particular markets. He also mentioned that VERs were always voluntary that was why no one outside the exporters association know they exist. The author also narrated how VERs began and how it proliferated in the export industry. A discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of VERs are also presented.
