- Title
REED AND THE OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY.
- Authors
Wyatt, Diana
- Abstract
The article offers the author's insights for the writing of the revised third edition of the "Oxford English Dictionary" (OED) and its relation to the readers of "Records of Early English Drama Newsletter" (REED). It explores the categories of the modification of the dictionary, and the problems that REED readers are encountering when doing lexicography and language history. The author says that the chief editor of OED invites scholars in various historical fields to comment related to their field, particularly on the modification of the dating, and status and meanings of words listed in the second edition of OED. She also explores her works on the documents in the cities of York and Chester in England which are not much part of terminologies related to drama and other related activities.
