- Title
Bacterial physiology: Setting the speed of translation.
- Authors
Kåhrström, Christina Tobin
- Abstract
The article reports on a study which examines the cause of translation rate in Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis. Findings reveal that the gene sequences in the mRNA coding region that resemble the Shine-Dalgarno (SD) sequence are the main reason of translational phenomenon in bacteria. It says that the study used the ribosome profiling approach to track the distribution of ribosomes in the mRNAs of Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis.
