- Title
Parasitology: Transmission key to Leishmania vaccine.
- Authors
Molloy, Sheilagh
- Abstract
The article highlights a study in parasitology which characterizes the immune response occurring following natural Leishmania major transmission, and tested the efficacy of Leishmania vaccines against natural transmission of Leishmania in a mice model. The authors of the study found dramatic infiltration of interferon-producing L. major-specific CD4+ effector T cells, which is a response correlated with a significant reduction in parasite load.
