- Title
Renaissance Learning touts success of Accelerated Reader Summer Reading Program.
- Abstract
The article reports on the success of the National Summer Community Reading Program of Renaissance Learning Inc., a leading provider of computerized assessment and progress monitoring tools for pre K-12 schools and districts in the U.S. Several studies allegedly showed that children's reading skills have declined during the summer months, which ultimately resulting in a significant learning loss. To address this, the summer program was organized with the participation of students from over 200 communities nationwide, to encourage them to read books, take the corresponding comprehension quizzes and monitor their results. As they are monitored throughout the program, Renaissance Learning found that students have increased their reading scores by the end of the program.
