- Title
Why is the textiles sector more rupee-hit?
- Abstract
The article reports on the impact of the appreciation of the Indian rupee against the U.S. dollar on exporters of textiles and garments. It is noted that the weak U.S. dollar has affected the country's textile industry because the industry continues to have a major structural weakness which restricts its not easily destructible exporting ability to a few areas-yarn and casual or fashion wear garments. The article also presents several industry facts that reflect the poor fabric production base in India.
