- Abstract
The article discusses a study which evaluated the effect of a short educational program on the knowledge and beliefs of young women about osteoporosis. A five-point Likert-type scale was used to measure the strength of women's beliefs about the condition. The study found that a high percentage of respondents identified the risk factors of sedentary lifestyle, low-calcium diet, family history, female gender, scoliosis and post menopause. It notes the effectiveness of such program using professionally developed material.
