- Abstract
To effectively manage the hardness value of the ethylene glycol solution in the treatment system, it's imperative to rigorously control the water production of gas wells and make timely optimization adjustments to the ethylene glycol treatment system. To reduce the hardness value of ethylene glycol solution and enhance the processing capacity of its treatment system and the flow assurance of deep water pipeline operations, a comprehensive analysis of the Liwan deep water gas field's production system was conducted. This analysis revealed that the escalating hardness value resulted from the increasing production of formation water from deep water gas wells. This water, rich in calcium and magnesium ions, was absorbed by the ethylene glycol solution. At the same time, the ethylene glycol treatment system was not able to effectively treat these highly concentrated ions. Implementing on-site measures, such as optimizing the production rate of these gas wells with water breakthrough, careful selection of the pH balance solution, enhancing the monovalent salt system's treatment capacity, and selecting different type of particle filter socks, the hardness value of ethylene glycol solution in the treatment system was successfully reduced. The results of this study provide a reference for the subsequent development and production of deep water gas field ethylene glycol treatment systems when facing the problem of increased hardness value.
