- Abstract
In this paper, we will introduce a practical example of using mobile Snoezelen with the research cooperation of Mine Laboratory, Department of Human Environment, Faculty of Life Design, Toyo University. At Kanagawa Prefectural Zama School for the Disabled, a part of the shared study room that can meet diverse needs was opened as a Snoezelen room in April 2017, and is often used by children in the education department for the physically handicapped and the education department for the intellectual disability. I came. Due to the announcement of the state of emergency in April 2020, the special school was closed, and even after the start of school attendance, the school was decentralized and staggered. Since it became difficult to use the Snoezelen room from the viewpoint of infection control, we requested cooperation in using mobile Snoezelen from September 2020. Mobile Snoezelen has the advantage that Snoezelen can be deployed in each classroom, and it has come to be regularly implemented not only in the physically handicapped department but also in the intellectual disability education department. In particular, in the high school of the education department for the physically handicapped, various collaboration projects were carried out centering on physical development once a week, and the lessons were able to be developed as memories of the students. While there are many opinions that Snoezelen is very effective for relaxation, independent movement and communication of children with severe and multiple disabilities, evidence for the effect is an issue. In this study, we introduced an example of the use of mobile Snoezelen at our school and considered changes in the record table and actual conditions of children and students. In addition, for further utilization in the school, we have created a "Guidebook for Snoezelen Utilization" that contains basic knowledge about Snoezelen, and we will report it together.
